Replace Missing or Broken Teeth With a Crown and Bridge

Seeing your dentist yearly can keep your teeth and gums healthy and also correct any of your oral health issues. Studies show that although 85% of people in the United States want to pay attention to their oral health, 42% of them don’t see a dentist often enough.

When you neglect your oral health, you can suffer from issues that lead to problems, such as  impaired speech and failure to chew your food well.

When you visit our team at Advanced Implant Dentistry & MedSpa of North Shore, led by Dr. Jeon and Dr. Monto, we evaluate the condition of your oral health and implement the best solution for you. If you have damaged or missing teeth, we recommend our crown and bridge treatments.

When you need a crown

If you have a cracked or weak tooth, we cover your tooth with a prosthetic device called a crown, which looks like your real tooth. The crown protects and provides strength for your damaged tooth, so you can bite down for chewing without any issues.

You might also choose to get a crown for cosmetic reasons. For example, if you have a discolored tooth, a crown can mimic the look of your real tooth and match the color of your other teeth. Or if you have misshapen teeth, affecting their original shape and size, crowns can cover them to give you a more pleasing look.

In many cases, crowns are also used to hold a dental bridge in place.

When you need a dental bridge

When you’re missing a tooth or several teeth in a row, our team places a “bridge” of false teeth, called a pontic, in your mouth to replace the gap. We can use a bridge to fill in the area for one missing tooth or several.

If you have strong, healthy teeth on each side of your missing tooth or teeth, then the “bridge” attaches to them to hold it in place. If you have weak or broken teeth on either side of your missing teeth, then you need a crown to cover them so that your bridge can attach to them and stay in place.

The benefits of crowns and bridges

Crowns and bridges can extend the life of your teeth for many years.

They can also restore your mouth to its full function again, allowing you to chew food comfortably and speak with clarity. Whether you require crowns and bridges for oral health reasons or simply want them to cosmetically enhance the look of your smile, we can give you the superior care you need.
