How Botox Can Improve Your Smile

When you look your best, you feel better about yourself, which can give you confidence. And when you’re confident, you smile more. Did you know that smiling can boost your feelings of happiness?

At Advanced Implant Dentistry & MedSpa of North Shore in Glenview, Illinois, Dr. Howard Jeon, Dr. Michael Monto and the rest of our team offer Botox to enhance your appearance, which can increase your self-esteem and help you feel better about yourself overall. So, how does it work?

Botox explained

When the muscles around your eyes, mouth, and forehead crease and flex continually throughout your life, wrinkles, fine lines, and deep lines can begin to form. Botox treatments help eliminate them.

When you come in for a Botox treatment at our practice, we inject Botox into specific muscles on your face with a tiny needle. The procedure blocks the nerves that cause your muscles to contract, temporarily paralyzing them, which causes your skin to have a smooth appearance.

Areas Botox treats

We administer Botox to relax muscles in the following areas:

Botox has many uses, however, our team provides treatment for cosmetic enhancement.

How long the treatment lasts

Your procedure only takes a few minutes and causes minimal pain. After your treatment, you can return to your normal activities, but be sure to avoid pushing on or massaging any of the treated areas for 24 hours. You don’t want the solution to spread outside of the targeted muscles.

You should notice the full effect of your treatment in 7-14 days, and it can last for three to six months. Once your muscle action returns, you can begin to see your wrinkles appear again. At this time, you can schedule an appointment for another treatment.

Safety of Botox

We’re an experienced team of doctors that follow the FDA standards for administering Botox, so you can be confident in our care.

Adverse effects are extremely rare, and the overall risk is minimal, especially since the doses are given in such small amounts.

If you’re pregnant, nursing, or have a neurological disease, we don’t recommend Botox for you at this time. However, we can consult with you about the possibility of treatment in the future.
